Dig a Little Deeper: Victory in Christ
There is a very real enemy. He is out to devour, seeking to bring death and destruction to our world.
The good news is that he is defeated. We have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who has triumphed over him. Jesus satisfied God's wrath on the cross, and rose again in victory over Satan, sin, and death.
False Teachers
Unfortunately, the enemy is at work to deceive the people to prevent them from seeing the gospel.
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4
Romans 16:17 warns us against false teachers. False teachers are one of the ways Satan seeks to deter people from hearing the gospel. These malicious men (and women) cause divisions and create obstacles.
They pervert the gospel in order to indulge in their own sensualities and line their own pockets. One of the most common ways we see this is through "pastors" who sell false hope on promises of healing and freedom from poverty if only they will send in their money.
If left in unrepentance, these evil servants of Satan will face sudden destruction.
Obedience and Victory
As believers, we need to cling to the true gospel. We let our light shine in a way that draws people to give glory to God.
In our obedience, God will soon crush Satan beneath our feet.
False teachers may deceive. They are like a snake in the grass waiting to strike at someone's heel.
However, because of Christ's victory, God uses us to crush the Satan under our feet. The snake in the grass will be trampled as God let's us share in Christ's victory.
Jesus won the war, but Satan has not conceded. Until that final battle that will forever quarantine the forces of evil, God uses those who obey him to crush his enemies.
Stand firm, be courageous, and proclaim the gospel. Yes, there is an enemy. But Christ defeated him when he rose from the grave. And he shares that victory with you.
